This image probably took me 40+ hours of straight sitting in front of it to finish this. It's been the most slowly-progressing thing I've ever drawn (or at least the slowing thing I can REMEMBER drawing) and I am exceedingly sick of looking at it. I started this about 2 months ago, at the end of August and then school started and disrupted everything. I also tossed this aside to draw my Blood Elf for the Blizzard contest. But for the last two weeks I have spent my weekends mainly forsaking friends and worrying about this drawing, trying to finish it lol. In general, I enjoy how it ended up, which is very different than how I first set out.

Originally, this was going to be a drawing of Mathisen clad in monk-garb and furs amidst a blizzard in the middle of a forest. This was to go along with the story I write called Kreuzfahrer. But then I decided to draw all three of the characters I've come up with so far by adding Michael and Gabriel. I wanted to do something very dynamic but poor planning refused that and so this is fairly static. Michael turned out vastly different than how I wanted.

In all, the desire to simply be done with this pushed me to compromise and about 10 seperate things I wanted to do/add got tossed aside. So you get what you see and I think it turned out alright.

The best part of it all is that with the finishing of this new picture, I get to write more story. I like to include an illustration with each bit I pen. The next thing I draw will probably be a bit simpler to complete. But hopefully I've learned enough from the undertaking of this to more quickly execute something else.

Right, well I'm rambling. Hopefully you guys like it.

Characters are Gabriel(top), Michael(left) and Mathisen(right).

Stats are: 40+ hours of sitting in front of this occasionally working on it and done completely in .3 mechanical pencil, H and HB lead.

... I am in love...

Kudos to you for working on this one for so long. The amount of time spent definitely shows... I can sympathize with you on that - I'm working on a stippling project right now that demands the same order of hours.

Great work, even if it sickens you to look at it. I like the way Mathisen came ou the most.

It was worth the effort.

Oh my god, WOW. That is some amazing pencil work!
Ayami Kojima is a huge influence on me, yes lol!
The guy on the lower right with the spikey hair and fur collar is awesome! Anymore pics of this guy?
I think it looks good but I hear you on the pic not turning out as you'd hoped. My pics (the ones which take the most work) rarely turn out like I imagined them at first. Sometimes the change is good but most of the time it is at least a little disappointing. I know that if I take a break of more than a couple of days I have almost no desire to finish a pic (especially if it isn't that good or I stopped at the hard/annoying part).

I've got nothing against 40+ hour projects but sometimes you have to be less ambitious and more pragmatic from the start. It is more satisfying when you decide to add touches later than when you decide to axe ones you had planned. I suggest you do some more small projects, it will be a good change of pace and I'm not the only one who would be thrilled to see more of your work.
