Setting the Record Straight (so we can move on)

Thu Feb 16, 2006, 11:41 AM
Since this is all our dumbass media can talk about here in America, I figured I'd state a few facts about the Dick Cheney hunting accident (for those of you who don't know, Dick Cheney is the Vice President of the United States. Those of you who don't know what the Vice President is, go here: [link] ). One of the main questions being asked is "why did Cheney wait so long before he told the Sheriff about the accident?" The answer to that is simple: The Secret Service, who go wherever Cheney goes and were present on the scene during the accident ARE the police! In fact, they filed a report with the local Sherrif about an hour after the whole thing went down. The Sherrif then scheduled a meeting with the Vice President the next day at 10am, which Cheney moved up to 8am.

The next stupid moronic thing the left is whining about is "why hasn't Cheney gone to visit Whittington in the hospital?!" or "Why did Cheney wait an hour to get Whittington to the hospital, why didn't he drive him there immediately?!" To the first, I ask these people: do you know what it TAKES to move the VICE PRESIDENT anywhere?! You can't just waltz on down to St. Peter Memorial with a cavalcade of 12 SUV's and walk right in as the VP. No, what would have had to happen in order to allow the Vice President to go to a public hospital is thus: First, the Secret Service would have to drive ahead, cordon off the hospital and surrounding city blocks. Then they'd have to call out the phone company and set up secure phone lines. Next, the ER would have to be totally closed and no traffic would be allowed in or out of the hospital. Then and only then could the VP drive up and get Whittington into the ER. I can gaurantee you that Cheney has a greater understanding of what's happening from his ranch than if he were at the hospital, inconviencing everyone and sittin in the ER waiting room like everyone else.

Also, as to why Cheney waited so long to get his friend out: Cheney has certain medical conditions and as such always always has a few doctors in his entourage. It's not like Cheney hit Whittington and left him in the field to bleed while he finished hunting. Cheney's doctors were already working on Whittington by the time they got him to the local hospital, so all these allegations are simply a matter of not knowing what really happened.

Finally, as to this whole conspiracy theory of Cheney being drunk... He had one beer 6 hours before the accident at lunch and the police reports all state that alcohol was not involved. I've heard all the kook ideas on this but the only way any of them make sense is if every single person involved was lying, and that includes the doctors at the hospital, Whittington, Cheney, the Secret Service and the local Sheriff.

In the end, none of this crap makes any difference. We're somehow supposed to believe that the mainstream media somehow really actually cares about the healt of Mr. Whittington. Yeah right! They're just out for Cheney's blood (and by default, Bush's too). Whenever Whittington, a 78-year-old, DOES happen to die, be it 2 months or 10 years from now, it'll inevitably be blamed on Cheney. This whole piece of crap is a charade and it all deflects the attention of the country from what really matters: Militant Islam and Homeland Security. Hear about the new Saddam tapes talking about his WMDs? Or how about the fact that arabians own and control 6 major ports on US soil? Wouldn't want to talk about anything that means anything would we? Instead, we have wall-to-wall coverage about a non-fatal, accidental hunting incident just so some liberal asses can take a shot at an administration they don't like. Talk about playing the fiddle while Rome burns... We're all screwed if something doesn't change and that's the truth.

I have to say, I am not a huge fan of Cheney. There are issues with the White House that I have... But really, now. The Press is the only body upset about this occurance. Not the American people, and not even the people who were involved. The man forgave him. Another man in the hunting party said that it wasn't Cheney's fault at all and that Whittington "walked into the bullets."

There are others that may disagree, but the people who needed to know knew when they were supposed to. I seriously hope that the American public realizes the desperation of the media to side against him, when really he is not at fault for anything.

A phrase that shall probably never leave my lips again, but: "Rock on, Mr. Cheney." Way to be assertive and try to resolve things in the best manner possible.

So VP Cheney shot a guy by accident.
It was at night, and the press makes it look like he wanted a lackey's head to mount over his fireplace.
Don't they have better things to do, like, say, report about Libby?

I just noticed something. You have super powers. That is so cool. Can you fly?

I haven't heard very much stretch outside the original 'Cheney accidentally peppered associate while hunting quail', but that might just be because I live in Canada. It was careless, yes.. both probably on the VPs part and the part of Whittington. Not smart, no.. but not something to be blown terribly out of proportion. The media loves this stuff in the states it seems.

To be fair though, Bush has said some pretty funny things. But there are more pressing matters. Leave the exaggerations and the fun-making to the blogs and the tabloids.

I think we need more level-headed people like you in positions of power. To be honest, I disagree with Bush on a lot of things domestically but it's really his foreign policy that makes me love this administration... I actually wish they'd do more about the threats that face this country but either way this is the most rediculous thing I've heard of in awhile. The media's (and liberals) attempt to scandalize this administration out of office is pathetic, evil and treasonous...
:iconninebreaker:
Or like... the WAR we're fighting? Or maybe illegal immigration? Or maybe the fact that we have Muslims owning and overseeing ports in New York and Boston? Orrr maybe ANYthing else... This is so insane.

if it helps any I don't really care??
I mean... I've stopped really watching anything that deals with uneeded political ranting... or should I say non-political ranting...

What happened happened... it could happen to anyone for that matter...

People just need to pull that stick out of their butts...

I'd like to say Republicans would aknowledge it and move on but I honestly don't know anymore. I mean Clinton really did some skanky things in office and Republicans didn't harp endlessly on them. The thing is tho that if a democrat shot someone (something that's happened before) Republicans wouldnt really even HAVE a forum to whine about it endlessly in. The mainsteam media being the liberal, democratic bunch they are, wouldn't have run endless stories about the subject either way.
:iconninebreaker:
first off, lol I don't really equate blogs with tabloids. It's true that there are bloggers that are just as crazy as tabloids but there are some legitimate blogs out there that have good reputations.

Other than that, the media in the sates here love anything that makes Bush's administration look bad in any way and they've even been known to just make things up if they can't actually find something... Either way it shows unprofessionalism and immaturity. I agree with you that there are much more pressing matters... In fact almost ANYthing can be classified as "a much more pressing matter" when compared to this story.
