Buttcrack Mountain Gets 'Screwed' Out of Oscar

Sun Mar 5, 2006, 11:00 PM
In one of "the biggest upsets in Academy Awards history," the movie "Crash" nudged ahead of frontrunner "Saddlesore Mountain" to nab the Best Picture award earlier this evening. It's true that occasionally this happens, that a relatively unknown film beats out a frontrunner but I must admit that I was a bit shocked that Brokeback didn't clean house. We've been told the last few months what a great movie it was and in the end it got away with only one of the six most coveted Oscars (Ang Ree got Best Director). Could it be that in the face of rapidly declining theater attendance, the Academy decided to try and throw a twist into what was looking to be a pretty straight-forward evening? Just a thought I suppose...

Either way, no matter how 'good' Brokeback was, I am sick of hearing how brave the director was for producing a movie about a couple of loser idiot men who ditch their families to screw eachother up in the mountains all day. There's noting brave about Brokeback Mountain. Making a movie about gay cowboys in Hollywood is like making a movie about how great Mohammad is in Mecca. I don't think I'll ever pay to see another movie with Heath Ledger or Jake Gyllenhaal ever again (not that I really liked either actors to begin with I suppose). What a bunch of piece-of-crap drivel.

One would think that with such amazing blockbusters like Narnia (which didn't win anything at the Oscars) or The Passion of the Christ, Hollywood would friggin wake up and realize that an overwhelming portion of the country would rather see uplifting movies rather than gay cowboy sex, movies that hate America/Christianity (like Jarhead or Kingdom of Heaven) and re-re-re-remakes of old crappy TV Shows (such as Starsky and Hutch or the Dukes of Hazard), but I guess it's asking to much for the arteest to have business sense. When a movie takes 150m to make and only pulls in about 35m (such as Oliver Stone's Alexander), there needs to be some major self-reflection within the industry (it may be worth noting that the Passion pulled in nearly 620m while costing a mere 30m to make). I think I may just start staying home.

eh not really. I pretty much know the plot.
:iconbothesucker:
i also hate that they call it a cowboy movie. cowboys are 19th century bandidos to me. not gay cow-boys! :S

i thought Brokeback was more of a movie about guys struggling to deal with their sexuality in a world even more intolerant then ours is now... rather then a movie like "we're cowboys, we're gay, lets have sex"

also, i dont think you should give up on two actors just because they were in a movie that goes agiasnt what you personally think. Except Heath - hes hot, but not a good actor. dont give up on jake tho... hes done good in the past.

Wow, I found your post extremely ignorant, especially for you.

Not that I can expect you to understand what it's like to live as a gay man, or a gay woman for that matter.

I'm not saying Brokeback Mountain was a history-making movie, but it certainly wasn't just gay porn. It actually would have been much better without the sex scene in my opinion. But clearly, you either haven't seen the movie, or missed the point entirely.

Yah, Parker... I have to agree with you being a bit ignorant on this post...
I don't really care that you hated the movie... that's your perrogative...
You don't like gays, don't care about the concept of em...

That's not what I have against you...

The whole Mohammad comment is what really did the ticket... Please don't be a shining example of a bible thumping non-christian... those hateful remarks are, even though I am a Christian, what I hate about the Christians of today...

As a Christian your supposed to accept everyone of what they are... being Christian, Muslim, etc...

You may not agree with it... and our job is too change their minds... but it doesn't give you the right to be a hateful person...
My roomate happens to be a pakistani Muslim, and I respect her and her point of views even if I don't beleive in them myself.

They would have called it a "ranch-dude" movie, but, the double entendres inherent in both the Chinese and gay communites would have been too much for the censors to bear.

I just noticed something. You have super powers. That is so cool. Can you fly?

You don't understand: he's heartbroken over how War of the Worlds didn't so much as get a mention at the Awards, and he's just projecting.
That, and he has a bone to pick with Ang Lee ever since, in Parker's opinion, wrecked the image of the Incredible Hulk.
